Please help us figure this out.?

Can anyone please give my wife and I some advice on decorating or living room? We want to do a New Orleans themed room. We live in Jackson, MS originally from New Orleans. Call us crazy but, we're both hit a point in the road where we cant think of what else to had to the decorating. We have the usual. Paintings of the city streets, and of course, the Fleur-de-lis. But, its still not bringing that authentic New Orleans feeling. Our color scheme is a maroon and dark cherry wood. We basically, want to feel like home. Any advice will help. Thank you.
