What is wrong with people?

Here is a prime example:Unfortunately, the group i was assigned to work with in english class tends to express obvious displays of irrational thinking. On asking around for things to do it is replied"Well, um, there isn't anything you can do," and other equally unprepared statements. So i pick up my book and read. 30 minutes later, a group member at the apex of alertness implies that i am lazy, only to completely fall deaf to the two others playing a music video to my right. Another prime example, situated after i ask for someone to check what i sent them, only to be deftly ignored, asked what i had inquired, and deftly ignored in the middle of my response. I was told that another member(totally ignorant of this) will send me something, leaving me waiting for the email that will never come...until 2 in the morning. The "cherry on top," as they say, is how others produce neolithic grunts and shrugs, oblivious of any grammar mistakes even as i remind them in vain. Working with this group has really put the "Je ne sais quoi" in my life. it is akin to the splashdown method practiced widely by early spacecraft, violent but survivable. Another interesting observation is when i ask a question, they begin sentinces with unnecessary "um"s or simply shrug or say "i don't give a ****." When i ask them why they do this or attempt to explain that it is ilogical and nobody can understand them, they will repeat this unnatural behavior The question is, Why?
